4 Protestors are killed in Tehran, Iran, another Blood Shed in Iran

Opposition sources in Iran say that at least four protesters have been shot dead in violent clashes between anti-government crowds and police.

Opposition parties had urged people to take to the streets as the Shia Muslim festival of Ashura reached a climax. People were chanting "Khamenei will be toppled", opposition sources said, a reference to Iran's Supreme Leader.
Thousands of demonstrators are reported to have taken part in the protests, in despite with the official warnings. Initial reports said the security forces fired in the air to disperse the protests, but several different reports said that at least one, and possibly as many as four demonstrators, had been shot dead. Police sources, quoted by the Iranian Fars news agency, denied this, saying foreign media were exaggerating reports of unrest .

Although there were deaths in the immediate aftermath of the disputed elections and protests in June, fatalities since then have been rare. The security forces clearly have to tread a fine line between not appearing weak but also not provoking opposition protesters, says Siavash Ardalan of BBC Persian TV. Police helicopters were seen flying over central Tehran as clouds of black smoke billowed into the sky, reports said. On the ground, the security forces clashed with protesters trying to reach central Enghelab Square, witnesses said. Protesters were chanting, "This is the month of blood", and calling for the downfall of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to opposition websites. At the same time, crowds of pro-government demonstrators marched on Enghelab Street to voice support for Ayatollah Khamenei, witnesses said.
Protests were also reported in the cities of Isfahan and Najafabad.

Disputed election
Tensions have risen in Iran since influential cleric Grand Hoseyn Ali Montazeri (founder of the ideology of the supreme leader in Iran and Islamic regime foundation but critical to those recently) died a week ago aged 87. Supporters of opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi and other opposition movements (anti-regime) have sought to use Shia religious festivals this weekend to show continued defiance of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's government and Ai Khamenei Supreme Leadership.
Denied the right to protest, the opposition chose the highly significant festival of Ashura when millions of Iranians traditionally go onto the streets for ceremonies and parades, BBC Tehran correspondent Jon Leyne says. The festival mourns the 7th Century death of Imam Hussein, a grandson of the Prophet Muhammad. Iranian television had live coverage of the Ashura ceremonies, including those in Tehran attended by President Ahmadinejad.
Mr Mousavi came second in the June election, and anger at the result saw mass protests in Tehran and other cities that led to thousands of arrests and some deaths. Mr Mousavi has said the poll, that returned Mr Ahmadinejad to power, was fraudulent.

Call for Action - Send Appeal to Stop Execution of Three Persons For Homosexual Act (November 16, 09)

(PGLL, Persian Gay and Lesbian Liberators, London, November 15, 2009)

Nemat Safavi from the city of Ardebil, Mehdi P. from Tabriz, and Mohsen Gh. from Shiraz were all arrested, tried and sentenced to death in different courts in Iran, based on accusations of homosexual acts (known as "Lavat").
They were under the age of 18 at the time of arrest and have been kept in prison since then. In Nemat’s case, he was jailed for five years so that he would reach the legal age (according to Islamic law) at which death sentences can be carried out.

Human rights activists working on Nemat's behalf have determined that the authorities in Ardebil are claiming Nemat dons not even exist. Having observed many similar cases before, PGLL considers this statement to be reason for even greater worry.

Mehdi and Mohsen are awaiting their execution despite the fact that they have both pleaded innocent and have denied the allegations. There is not one single witness in either of the cases, and even the judge himself has no evidence whatsoever to prove that the plaintiffs are guilty. (According to Islamic law, the accused person would accept his guilt four times, or there would be four male adults testifying on the crime committed, before a court can legally rule on someone’s guilt.)

Nevertheless, the judge has ruled that Mehdi and Mohsen be sentenced to death by the powers vested in him by Islamic punishment rules, which allow a judge to issue a verdict based on his own personal knowledge, even when no physical evidence or witnesses were available.

PGLL is requesting the International Community and Human right Organisations to pressurise the Islamic Republic to:

• Stop the executions immediately
• Give unrestricted access of Human Rights committees and organizations to these cases
• Allow these plaintiffs to be tried in legal courts of law following the international standards, which clearly indicate that no one should be executed for the crimes they have committed when they were children (below age 18 in Iran).

PGLL is asking all individuals, organizations and human rights activists to take action and help us to stop these unlawful and barbaric executions.

Laws violating human rights in Iran!

Laws violating human rights in Iran!

Hunger Strike

An Iranian asylum seeker, who has been a political activist and very active against Islamic Republic, he is in a detention removal centre in U.K. and has been in a hunger strike for two weeks. He has been deprived from the basic asylum human and legal rights.

In the beginning, he has been detained by the British Immigration authorities in Oakington detention centre located in Cambridge. After eight days on hunger strike, the authorities have decided to move him to the Block, then he has been transferred to Harmondsworth Immigration Removal centre; because of the reason, we are seriously worried about his health condition.

This is to mention that due to his removal and because of being involved in political activities such as freedom movement and anti Islamic Republic Authorities in Iran and UK. According to sharia law there would be a death penalty for as a threat for national security and on war against God (Mohareb)

Cherish The Great Cyrus Day

We, Iranians, should cherish the Great Cyrus day everywhere in the world. The first declaration of human rights (The Great Cyrus Cylinder), his words, deeds and thoughts, the style of governing the empire are only some of his works. Unfortunately, the current regime of Iran is trying to remove his name and replace it by Islamic agendas since 1979. It is in our duty to protest our heritage and save our conutry and our nation by following his way from 1400 years damage to our identity. One of the ways is to know who was he and what he did for his country and the world, and spread it among our compatrits.
